The Zambia Chamber Of Commerce And Industry-ZACCI-has implored private sector players in the country to reposition themselves and become more innovative and industrious to tap from the benefits that will accrue following the successful approval of the $1.3 billion the international monetary fund –IMF- support package for Zambia.
Zambia got the IMF board approval for a $1.3 billion support package which is an important step toward the country’s debt restructuring programme.
ZACCI President Chabuka Kawesha tells Phoenix News that since the program is envisaged to catalyze the much needed financial support from development partners thereby enabling an immediate disbursement equivalent to about $185 million, business houses must step up and reboot the industrialization drive and sustain the favorable business environment that has been created.
Dr Kawesha is also elated that the three year extended credit facility is based on Zambia’s homegrown economic reform plan whose objective is to restore macroeconomic stability and foster higher, more resilient and more inclusive growth.
