INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
(LUSAKA BASED)
The Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) wishes to appoint a well-qualified and experienced person at the ZACCI Secretariat based in the Lusaka Agricultural Showgrounds. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Head of Membership and Publicity Department and Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for membership growth, communication strategies, business development strategies and revenue activities including identifying and closing new business deals as well as expanding existing business opportunities.

The Role:
This is a position for a person with exceptional skills, a visionary and motivated individual to steer ZACCI to higher heights that would meet and exceed the members’ expectations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping the Chamber obtain better brand recognition and financial growth. They will coordinate with the team and review current market trends in order to propose new business ideas that can improve revenue margins and membership growth.
The candidate will assist the Membership Department in being the first point of contact with new and potential members. The intern will help companies and individuals when they are seeking information about what the Chamber offers.
The candidate must be skilled in building long-standing and successful relationships with key clients. They’ll also need a clear, decisive way of communicating so that they can adapt solutions for different needs on behalf of the ZACCI membership.
The candidate will assist with new member acquisition and retention. They will assist in event planning and fundraising activities for the chamber.
Requirements and skills:
• Experience in customer support is a plus
• Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
• Proficiency in English
• Market knowledge
• Communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to build rapport
• Time management and planning skills
• Knowledge on advocacy and lobbying strategies will be a plus
• BSc/BA in business administration, marketing, sales or relevant field preferably from UNZA/CBU
• Excellent analytical, leadership, communications and interpersonal skills and business skills.
